More specifically, I have an administrative account as does the other primary user of a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. If I install an application using my normal admin account, is this app also visible and useable by the other admin user? If there was a nonadmin account on this Mac, would the app be useable there also?
If I want to install an app that is visible and useable only to me in my admin account, can that be done? Or do I have to be working from a nonadmin account to install apps visible only to me? Any clarification would be helpful and appreciated! Thanks, Steve M. Mac Install App As Admin![]() Install As Admin Windows 10
Double-click the DMG file to open it, and you’ll see a Finder window. Mac switch to apps. Often these will include the application itself, some form of arrow, and a shortcut to the Applications folder. Simply drag the application’s icon to your Applications folder and you’re done: the software is now installed. Users can make this more or less strict: Open System Preferences Open the 'Security & Privacy' pane Select the 'General' tab Click the lock icon in the lower-left corner and enter an administrative username and password Select one of the three available levels under 'Allow apps downloaded from:'.
